Amputated

Obscene Gore / Death Metal - Official Amputated website

Biography
Amputated were formed in 2002 by drummer Gareth (Garry) Arlett (after his previous band ForeverBlind disbanded) and vocalist Mark Pearce (previously in Nauseum) with guitarists Daryl and Simon, and bassist Martin. Simon was an early casualty of the bands push towards a more gore-drenched and perverse direction and the band continued as a 4 piece. They quickly recorded their debut demo/EP "Up To Our Nuts In Guts" and began creating a following, spurned by their messy live show and offensive demeanour. Their first show was a support slot with Exmortem and Necrophagia before the demo was picked up by IBD Records and released as a split EP with Belgiums' Leptotrichia. Soon after release Ollie from Welsh Death metal veterans Desecration joined on guitar to create a more powerful live sound, but bassist Martin decided the live arena wasn't for him and left the band to be replaced by Andi Morris, previously from Welsh Doom / Death metallers Mulch. The band continued touring, including an appearance at the Obscene Extreme festival in the Czech Republic plus UK tours with Desecration and Gorerotted.

The band then went on to record their debut album 'Gargling with Infected Semen' in February 2005 at Endless Studios in Birmingham, UK. After extensive touring the band found another gap to be filled in the bassist department when Andi left to join Desecration, and Andy Byles from Craniosacral stepped into the fold. The band then did a UK tour with Swedish Death Metal band Deranged as well as making an impression at the 2005 London Deathfest. The year was finished with a slot supporting Deicide.

2006 saw the bands reputation continue to grow as once again they headed out on the gigging circuit making their first forays into Holland, Germany and Switzerland touring with legendary grinders ENT and Desecration culminating in an all day event supporting Hate Eternal in London. They were also asked back on to that years Deathfest bill (alongside Master, Toxocara, Monolith Deathcult among others) after their impressive 2005 performance and made a rather unexpected appearance in the pages of the Guardian!! Their debut album was eventually to be released in August 2006 on US based label Sevared Records. Since release, the band have taken a well earned breather from the live environment to concentrate on writing new, more ferocious material to be unleashed on the world in 2007.
