BlazingJeff first appeared on the VoodooJunkie forums in late 2003 with the aim of promoting gigs. Before long, Rufus T Firefly made a harmless (and childish) "Jeff is gay" joke, to which Jeff reacted with a barrage of abuse and over the top self-defence*. It became increasingly clear to the mischievous regulars of VJ that Jeff had a short fuse and struggled to cope with the sense of humour of the forums. Threads frequently turned into Jeff-baits, which more often than not ended up in long and tedious flamewars between Jeff and certain posters. During this period, the AEF became particularly active and the atmosphere on the forums turned rather poisonous.

Information came about that Jeff had had troubles on another Bristol forum in the past, and he had been banned when he had threatened physical harm to one of the members there. Some on VJ called for him to be banned, some asked him to leave, but Jeff stood firm and insisted that he had the right to be there. To most, the most confounding thing was that Jeff would constantly complain about the abuse he received (some of it undeserved and unprovoked, it must be noted) but refused to go and find another forum on which he could take refuge.

On several occasions Jeff claimed he was going to stop posting on VJ, or that he was going to stop reacting to people's baiting, but almost every time the discussions descended back into flamewars and the circle -o-Jeff continued. Eventually, in early 2005, Jeff claimed that he had found another forum and would not be returning to VJ. But return he did, coincidentally to promote the band (Spit Like This) whose forum he was now frequenting. The nature of the plug drew the usual jokes from the regulars and soon Jeff was calling on his new friends on the Spit Like This to invade VJ and fight back. The argument spawned a legendary thread in the AEF which can be found here∞.

After the debacle Jeff has posted less, although recently (late 2005) he has slowly begun to return to the board, and as yet there are no signs of any trouble.

*TimofDeath seems to remember it was he and not TDRufus who first probed the insecurities at Jeff's core, but he may be incorrect.
